2024 ELCA Youth Gathering Fundraising
This summer, we have 5 Journey Youth and 3 adult leaders heading down to New Orleans along with thousands of ELCA youth across the country for the ELCA National Youth Gathering! Together they will experience life-changing worship, interactive learning, Bible study, service, and fellowship. This gathering is held every 3 years in cities around the country, but this gathering promises to be extra special as the 2021 gathering was canceled durable COVID. We are excited about learning and experiencing this year’s theme- “Who We Are Created to Be!” The NC Synod has helped alleviate some of the cost for all participating youth across NC, but we still have quite a bit to go to cover lodging, food, and airfare.
From now until July, the Youth attending the gathering will be conducting fundraising events that will give you the opportunity to help us meet our goal of $5,000. Here are a few events we are already working and ways you can participate! Contact emily.graff@doveandcross.org for more information!
Shoe Drive: From now until May 19th, we are collecting gently used shoes of all kinds. We are working with an organization that gets these shoes into the hands of small business owners in developing countries as a way to support their families and communities. There is a collection bin in the Narthex, our goal is 2500 pairs of shoes!! If you have a workplace or community that can help out we can coordinate pickups as well!
Raffle: The youth will be selling raffle tickets on May 5th, 12th, and 19th for a drawing during the talent show (you don’t need to be present to win).
APLC’s Got Talent Show! May 19th, youth will be cooking up burgers and hot dogs for a free-will donation as part of the fellowship meal at this event. Come hungry and ready for a great time! They will also be conducting a raffle basket drawing on this day.
Tee Shirts: We are designing a special tee shirt and will be taking orders in a few months for anyone looking to add to their wardrobe!
We are currently looking for sponsors to help cover the cost of printing. If you have, or work for a business that would be interested in sponsoring the group let Emily Graff know. We are offering a $50, $100, $200 sponsorship package that will include a single-color logo on the back of the shirt.
