Overall Theme: Church planning, like most organizations, generally begins with the way it happened last year. We build our way forward based upon the way we have been doing it all along. Sometimes, however, that kind of process is not helpful. When a congregation faces significant change or is needing and wanting to venture into paths they have not yet trod, then everything needs to be open. If key leadership changes, you can try to ask new leadership to do what was already being done, or you can see with new and fresh eyes. When a congregation finds themselves heading in a direction that is not leading to vibrancy and health, it is important to take a different approach. During the season of Lent, we will be exploring Eric Law’s book, “Holy Currencies: 6 Blessings for Sustainable Missional Ministries.” On this journey, we will be exploring how we might get ready for God doing something new. How do we exchange the blessings of the past and present for the gifts we hope to have? God is about to do a new thing!
