Main Text: Ephesians 3:1-12 (Isaiah 60:1-6; Matthew 2:1-12
One of the complaints often heard about the church is that the church only wants more money. If this is true, then the church is most to be pitied. The riches of God are worth far more than any riches of the world. The riches of the world can only make you feel temporarily more comfortable in the darkness of the world. The kings that came from the east had riches, but they were in search of something greater that will last. They heard the news of the boundless riches of God beyond all that they had and laid their riches before the Lord. The Kings received the greater riches, because God’s riches are boundless, where their riches are limited. We often focus on our riches, but deep down realize that it is never enough. When you give your money to the Lord, you get the greater gift. You receive the news of the boundless riches of God in Jesus Christ. Yes, the church askes for your offering and money. Yet, the church does not receive the greater gift from you. Instead, the church exists to spread the news of the boundless riches of God. When we lay down our riches before the Lord, the joy of the Lord becomes our boundless and unlimited strength!
